November 1, 2014 - Prairie Wildflower Walk
with Roger Hammer & Craig Huegel - Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park.  45-minute swamp buggy rides available.  Cost is $24 for Friends of Kissimmee Prairie Preserve members and $34 for non-members.  Registration for each walk -- 9:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. -- is limited to 20 participants; first come, first served.  Register now at Prairie Wildflower Walk.

November  9, 2014 - Ormond Scenic Loop & Trail Fall Trail Walk - Meet at the Fairchild Oak parking lot, Bulow Creek Park, 3351 Old Dixie Highway, Ormond Beach (about 9 miles north of SR 40, Granada Blvd, and one mile south of Walter Boardman lane.  Walk Pumphouse Road for about 2 hours on uneven terrain, discussing area natural history and plants with Dr. Don Spence, biologist and certified arborist.  Free, No registration.  Bring water, insect repellent and picnice lunch to eat after the walk.  Contact Rob Bird at rbird1@cfl.rr.com.

November 15, 2014 - 10th Annual BirdFest at Marine Science Center, Ponce Inlet.  The day will include live raptor programs, exhibitors, lectures, bird-related arts and crafts, nature-inspired artworks and kids activities. The event will run from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  Admission to the Center is free all day.

November 18, 2014 - Grand opening of Marine Discovery Center new marsh plant nursery, kayak launch and shoreline education area.  A brief ceremony will be held at the Marine Discovery Center, 520 Barracuda Blvd, New Smyrna Beach, at 10:00 a.m.  Following brief remarks, there will be a short walking tour of the site and overview of each element in the project. 

February 4-7, 2015 - Laredo Birding Festival features trips to birding hotspots and scenic south Texas ranches.  Target bird is the White-Collared Seedeater.  Register.

February 21, 2015 - 15th Annual Orlando Wetlands Festival.  9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Fort Christmas Historical Park, 1300 N. Fort Christmas Road, Christmas FL.  Exhibits, door prizes, tree giveaway, live music, hayrides, hikes, bus tours, live animal demonstrations, and more.  Information:  407-568-1706.  Free.  See flyer for details.
