Meet at the Refuge Visitor Center/Office parking lot (Address below) to begin the search for Red-headed Woodpeckers and then move to the refuge parking lots. We will concentrate our efforts in the wooded areas around the first impoundment searching for migrants and what ever we might find. After we have explored this area, we will move to DeLeon Springs State Park (Admission or Florida Park Pass required for entry.) There are more trails to explore and we can scope Spring Garden Run for birds.
This outing is all walking at a leisurely pace.
Pack water and snacks. Bring hat, bug spray, sunscreen and proper footwear. If you are interested (optional), lunch is available in the Old Pancake House or you can pack your own lunch and enjoy the picnic area or you can call it a day.
