Featuring one of the prettiest hammocks of ancient live oaks that you’ll find along Lake Jesup, the Marl Bed Flats Tract of Lake Jesup Conservation Area along the lake’s north shore is a delightful place for birding. We will meet to carpool to this location. From the entrance we will hike through the hammock and out to the flats. Prepare for possible wet conditions. This is a good location for woodland species and shorebirds.
After walking the property, we will go to a picnic area to eat lunch at the Lake Jesup Wilderness Park. Here we can see Limpkins and herons.
Pack snacks, water and lunch. There are no restroom facilities at the Flats. We will make a stop before lunch . Pack sunscreen and bug spray. Boots can be useful at the Flats.

Additional note: Scouted the trails on October 17 and the trails were dry in the hammock and into the fields. Very pleasant walk in the morning.
