St.Marks National Wildlife Refuge

Date:
1/8/2019 to 1/11/2019

Event Description

We travelled to this destination in the Big Bend area of Florida last  two years and it was such a great experience that we are repeating it this year. We will explore the refuge for several days, looking for shorebirds, migrants and ducks. We drive to locations on the refuge, taking short and long hikes, watching ponds from overlooks and enjoying time spent at a beautiful location.

We will leave Tuesday January 8, carpooling to St Marks, FL (appx 260 miles).  We will stay at Shell Island Fish Camp (shellislandfishcamp.com) (850-925-6226); they have 1 and 2 bedroom cabins, motel rooms and RV sites (if you want to bring your RV). Each traveller should make their own reservations.  Dinners will be as a group at local seafood restaurants or at camp with a group dinner or two.  Stay from 3, 4, or 5 nights, whichever is better for you. If interested, please contact Betty Butcher, 863-224-4922, for more information and to get on the list for updates and info as the outing plans are finalized.
